Stillness in the Storm

Everyone shares similar memories when reflecting on their experiences at the Jersey Shore: sandy toes, the smell of salty air, Kohr’s ice cream, Snooki, and boardwalk lights stretching into warm summer nights.
Whereas I have grown more appreciative of the unseen moments...
When the streets are empty.
When the ocean is roaring.
When the sand is hidden beneath a blanket of snow.
As that is when you witness the true wrath of Mother Nature; the collision between land and sea.
After battling wind, ice, and violent snowfall, I stood alone on the beach. Not a single footprint marked the shoreline. At times, my vision was consumed by a tsunami of snowflakes.
In that moment, the power of nature was intoxicating. Enticing. Unapologetic. A subtle reminder that we are at the will of the weather. While many choose to hunker down indoors, a select few meet the storm head on, not to conquer it, but to understand it - to feel it.
These photos serve as reinforcement that there is beauty in remaining still amidst chaos.
